State drama theater named after Hovhannes Abelyan of Vanadzor
The theater opened in 1931 and was known as the Gharakilisa Theater. It was the third theater in the republic.
The theater’s actors have received numerous honorary awards, and the theater’s repertoire consists of both Armenian national and classical and world performances.
It also cooperates with the Vanadzor branch of the State Institute of Theater and Cinema, and students’ works are often included in the theater’s repertoire.
