The Holy Mother of God Church
The Holy Mother of God Church is located in the center of Vanadzor, at the confluence of the Pambak and Tandzut rivers.
In ancient times, a church was built here, which later collapsed, and its construction date remains unknown. The decorative patterns on several khachkars (cross-stones) in the churchyard suggest that it was built during the Zakarid period in the 13th century.
The new church was built in 1831 by centurion Piruman Yuzbash Tayirov, about 10–15 kilometers away from the original site. The surroundings of the church are rich with numerous khachkars.
